KOTA KINABALU, 22 OCTOBER 2026 — Control Union (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and FatHopes Energy Sdn. Bhd. announced a strategic cooperation at the Sustainable Action Conference 2026 (SAC 4.0) in Kota Kinabalu, aimed at expanding credible sustainability certification and traceability across waste-and residue-based feedstock supply chains supporting sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other renewable fuels.

The collaboration brings together FatHopes Energy’s feedstock aggregation network and renewable fuels market experience with Control Union’s independent testing, inspection and certification expertise. Its focus is practical: helping more feedstock suppliers and points of origin prepare for internationally recognised sustainability requirements, improving supply-chain visibility and supporting the responsible growth of renewable fuel markets.

Through the cooperation, the organisations envisage facilitating supplier engagement and certification opportunities under relevant schemes, including International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU) and the Indonesian National Sustainability framework (INS), where applicable. Particular attention will be given to the traceability and sustainability of feedstock at its point of origin.

Speaking on the collaboration, Mr Supun Nigamuni, Managing Director of Control Union Malaysia, said:

“Scaling sustainable aviation fuel is not simply a question of production capacity. It also requires a dependable supply of responsibly sourced, traceable and independently verified feedstocks. Working with Fathopes Energy gives us an opportunity to extend credible certification to more suppliers and points of origin, helping build the market confidence needed for this sector to grow. Our role as an independent certification body, and the integrity of every certification decision, remain fundamental.”

Beyond certification, the cooperation is expected to support practical supplier outreach, technical awareness activities and coordinated preparation for certification as renewable fuel supply chains expand.
This will help suppliers better understand market requirements and strengthen their readiness to participate in increasingly demanding domestic and international markets.

For FatHopes Energy, the collaboration supports its efforts to build a commercially viable and responsible feedstock ecosystem, including waste and residue oils used in renewable fuel value chains.

Mr Vinesh Sinha, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FatHopes Energy, said:

“Sustainable aviation fuel presents an important opportunity to turn waste and residue feedstocks into lower-carbon energy solutions. But the opportunity can only scale when the supply chain is credible, transparent and ready to meet customer and regulatory expectations. By working with Control Union Malaysia, we want to make sustainability certification more accessible to our supplier ecosystem and help strengthen the foundations for responsible renewable fuel growth across the region.”

The cooperation is intended to support certification planning, supplier readiness and timely access to qualified audit services, while maintaining the impartiality and independence required of third-party certification. Specific activities will be implemented as mutually agreed by the organisations.

As demand for lower-carbon fuels grows, verified feedstock origin and sustainability performance are becoming increasingly important to market access and buyer confidence. The initiative aims to translate those requirements into practical steps for suppliers and the wider renewable fuels value chain.
The announcement at SAC 4.0 reflects the conference’s ambition to move beyond discussion and create industry collaborations that combine sustainability outcomes with tangible economic opportunities.

Organised by Control Union Malaysia with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, SAC 4.0 takes place under the theme “Sustainability as the New Economic Advantage”, bringing together government, industry, investors and sustainability leaders to advance practical solutions for sustainable growth. Together, Control Union Malaysia and FatHopes Energy aim to contribute to a more transparent, credible and investment-ready renewable feedstock ecosystem in Malaysia and the wider region.
